Brazil: Huawei starts smartphones production.

The Chinese company Huawei Technologies began producing low-cost smartphones in Brazil, the company said Tuesday in a statement.

According to the company, the initiative aims to expand the supply of products to the final consumers and introduce the brand appliances in the domestic market.

"Our strategy is to reduce local production rates and total cost of production to offer devices at an affordable price for the Brazilian market," said chief executive of Huawei in Brazil, Veni Shone, in a statement.

According to the executive, the initial production of about 100,000 devices, which may be extended according to the demand of the consumer market.

The company Compal Electronics, located in Jundiaí (SP), Huawei will be the partner for the production of smartphones.

The first smartphone from the brand that will be produced locally will be the Huawei Ascend G510, which will also be marketed by Vivo in its sales channels.

"Despite the arrival of 4G networks in Brazil, there is much to explore within the 3G technology," said business manager Huawei, Li Kefeng, in a note.

The device has a dual-core processor 1.2 GHz and operating system Android 4.1 Jelly Bean "Emotion UI", developed by the company.

It will be available for a suggested price of 699 reais for pre-paid customers. For post-paid, the value varies depending on the plan chosen.

The split in marketing sales channels live from August 25.

Huawei is in Brazil for over 15 years, participating in the market for fixed and mobile broadband through partnerships with telecom operators in the country.
